Alexandra Pommier, PhD

Dr. Pommier received her PhD from the University of Montpellier, France. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the post-transcriptional regulation of the CFTR gene by studying miRNAs and RNA-binding proteins in the context of cystic fibrosis. She then spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow in immunology at Boston Children's Hospital, where she investigated T and B cell populations in juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients to identify biological predictors of treatment response. In July 2024, she joined Dr. Cancelas's lab to continue her work in immunology and hematology. Her current research aims to characterize CD37-expressing macrophages with anti-inflammatory activity. This work has the potential to inform targeted strategies for reducing the toxicity of CAR-37 T-cell therapy, including minimizing cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and cytopenias.
