Mohd Kamran, PhD
Dr. Kamran received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), affiliated with the University of Calcutta, in 2022. During his PhD, he developed a strong interest in understanding the novel aspects of host-pathogen interactions. He genetically characterized the Leishmania donovani deubiquitinase DUB16 as an essential therapeutic target, DUB17 as an immunodiagnostic candidate, and the IL-10-Treg axis as a key immunosuppressive module activated in visceral leishmaniasis (VL) patients. In 2023, he moved to the USA and joined postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Ramnik Xavier at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and MGH. There, he worked on the Variant-to-Function (V2F) project to investigate the effects of non-coding genetic variants on disease processes and their contributions to specific phenotypes. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher in the Cancelas Lab, where he focuses on non-mutational epigenetic reprogramming, 3D chromatin architecture, and the role of Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 (PRC1) in cancer stem cells and hematological malignancies.
