Filip Garbicz, MD, PhD

Dr. Filip Garbicz is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Pathology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a Research Fellow in Pathology at Harvard Medical School, and a Research Affiliate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Drawing on his medical and scientific training, Dr. Garbicz leads multiple projects focused on modeling human cancer in genetically engineered mice. He employs single-cell RNA sequencing, epigenomics, and proteomics to tackle fundamental questions about cancer origins and progression. His work aims to identify and test therapies with the potential for rational translation to patient care.

Dr. Garbicz earned his M.D. from the Medical University of Warsaw and completed his intern year at Czerniakowski Hospital in Warsaw. He earned his Ph.D. from the Medical University of Warsaw and carried out his research at the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, where his projects focused on kinase signaling in blood cancers and their tumor microenvironment. Dr. Garbicz has also lectured in Immunology, Histology, and Embryology at various medical schools in Poland.

Outside the lab, he enjoys cycling through Massachusetts, exploring nature, and observing wildlife. He is a tennis enthusiast working on his backhand, and a dedicated runner (with a marathon dream in the works). In his spare time he loves discovering new music and revisiting classic 80s action films.
