Weiwei Bian, PhD

Weiwei obtained her bachelor’s degree in computational mathematics from Shandong university and her Ph.D. from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. She joined Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in April 2025 where she works on algorithm design, pipeline development, and bioinformatic analysis. During her Ph.D., she developed a clinical-grade, ultra-sensitive algorithm for fusion detection from RNA-Seq data, which revealed fusion-associated tumor heterogeneity. Additionally, she established a highly sensitive mutation calling method for minimal ctDNA input, enabling noninvasive detection of cancer at early stage. In her free time, she enjoys music and playing sports.
