Stephanie Grabow, PhD

Stephanie studied Biochemistry at Free University of Berlin, Germany, prior to undertaking her PhD studies at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI, University of Melbourne) in Australia.

She worked on apoptosis in Prof Andreas Strasser’s laboratory at the WEHI with a particular focus on the role of the pro-survival proteins MCL-1 and BCL-XL in B and T cell lymphoma for pharmaceutical intervention. Since then she has expanded her research into investigating apoptosis in embryonic development and brain cancer.

Stephanie worked in the laboratory of Dr Stephanie Dougan at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2016 to study the abscopal effect of radiation therapy in conjunction with new drug therapies to disrupt the tumor microenvironment and activate the immune system to mediate killing of pancreatic cancer cells.

Stephanie joined the Davids Lab in 2017 and combines her knowledge in apoptosis and tumor immunology from her previous appointments to investigate the role of the pro-survival protein MCL-1 in resistance to CLL therapies.

Stephanie likes to draw and paint and goes frequently to the cinema and loves doing puzzles.
