Alexi Stavropoulous

Alexi Stavropoulos is a first-year MD-PhD student at Harvard Medical School and MIT on the Health Sciences and Technology track. He grew up in California while most of his family still resides in Greece. Alexi obtained a dual BA/MA in Chemistry at Harvard University where he researched the development of molecular glue degraders against oncogenic protein targets in AML. After college, he spent time at Imperial College London as a Harvard-UK fellow, where he constructed in vitro systems that could provide insight into DNA-quadruplexes and their ability to regulate transcription via phase separation. In the Gillani lab, he hopes to elucidate the functional impacts of common germline variation in Ewings sarcoma and its ability to explain the intra- and inter-tumoral heterogeneity of the disease. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, running, and playing the guitar/DJ'ing.
