Emily Heikamp, MD, PhD, MSc

Dr. Heikamp is a physician-scientist and leader of the Heikamp Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She trained in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, where she worked with Dr. Scott Armstrong. As a pediatric oncologist, she takes care of children with cancer and blood disorders at Boston Children's Hospital and the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber.

Dr. Heikamp attended Duke University as an undergraduate, and she received a Master's in Medical Oncology at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. She received an MD-PhD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed a research track residency in Pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine and her clinical year of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship prior to coming to DFCI in 2019.

She has devoted her life to scientific research, having worked in laboratories since she was a high school student. She finds purpose in doing research in pediatric cancer that may help her patients one day. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of physicians and scientists.

Fun fact: Emily is the mother of two young boys and knows more about construction vehicles and trains than you would ever imagine!
