Vijyendra (VJ) Ramesh, PhD
I grew up in India, after which I moved to the United States to pursue my B.S. in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences at the University at Buffalo. I then obtained my Ph.D. from Duke University in Anne E. West’s lab, where I studied postmitotic chromatin mechanisms of neuronal gene regulation, combining bench science and computational approaches.
I joined the Kaelin Lab in 2023, where my research continues to use bench science and computational approaches but in pursuit of questions relating to the biology of VHL-deficient kidney cancer, and more recently breast cancer. These questions involve mouse models, endogenous retroviruses and/or gene regulation.
In my free time, I am either playing my bass and/or electric guitar, watching soccer, playing with my cat, playing video games, biking around town, going to the gym, or tinkering with some code on a terminal window.
