Jie Yang, PhD

Jie earned his PhD in Molecular Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in May 2024 under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Weiser. His doctoral studies focused on the investigation of substrate-dependent oligomeric states and the discovery of small inhibitors for a deacylase, human sirtuin isoform 2. Jie is now a postdoctoral research fellow at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Mancias. His research focuses on discovering and validating inhibitors that disrupt the interaction between NCOA4 and FTH1 to develop these inhibitors into therapeutic drugs that provide better treatment for patients with pancreatic cancer. Outside of the lab, Jie enjoys cooking, singing, fishing, playing basketball, and working out in the gym.
