Myles Brown Lab

Center for Functional Cancer Epigenetics

The focus of research in our laboratory is to elucidate the factors underlying the action of steroid hormones, their receptors and co-regulators in hormone-dependent malignancies including breast and prostate cancer. This includes both the role of somatic mutations in the receptors and their co-regulators as well as changes in the epigenetically determined programs of gene expression controlled by these receptors. We utilize a combination of epigenomic profiling approaches such as ChIP-seq and CRISPR-based genetic screens in relevant cell culture models, model organisms and patient-derived tissues to identify key drivers of hormone dependence and potential new therapeutic targets. More recently, we have been exploring the effects of steroid hormones on the tumor immune microenvironment.
