Welcome to the Stegmaier Lab

Advancing precision medicine for pediatric oncology

The Stegmaier laboratory is dedicated to advancing precision pediatric oncology medicine. We have pioneered the development and application of innovative genomic approaches to better understand the mechanisms underlying childhood cancers and to identify the next generation of therapies. Our lab has discovered novel technologies, concepts, and targets, and advanced new biomarkers and therapies to the clinic for patients with cancer.

Our research program integrates functional genomic and chemical biology approaches to identify new protein targets and small-molecule modulators of pediatric malignancies. We study pediatric malignancies like leukemia, sarcoma, and neuroblastoma, which have few recurrent mutations and instead exhibit altered differentiation and/or activated transcription factors (e.g., fusion oncoproteins). Our highly collaborative team draws on the expertise of cancer biologists, computational biologists, chemists, structural biologists, and translational researchers.
