Clonal Hematopoiesis: Interception, Detection, and Equitable Access Strategies
Welcome to the Weeks Lab!
We are a multidisciplinary group of clinicians, scientists, and statisticians who are passionate about prediction and prevention of blood cancers. A critical goal of cancer early detection is to identify individuals with pre-malignant states at greatest risk of progression. Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is the premalignant expansion of genetically related hematopoietic stem cells which increases the risk of developing blood cancers such as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Our lab develops and analyzes genomic datasets with linked clinical phenotypes to understand the clinical, molecular, and laboratory features which best predict blood cancer risk in diverse populations with CH. We are united by a desire to make exciting scientific discoveries that can be quickly translated to improve how we care for and counsel all patients with CH. Community relationships and engagement in various stages of our research process are central to this mission. We are committed to training the next generation of bold investigators who share our enthusiasm for creative, clinically relevant, and cross disciplinary research that can be swiftly translated to clinical practice.
